Let God be all you need in 2018!

What is your vision as a writer in 2018?

Happy New Year!

Like many writers, I am thinking about my writing vision for 2018.

Before I venture down that road, I want to briefly reflect on what 2017 meant for me as a poet, blogger, and follower of Christ. I thought about how to summarize my writing journey and Philippians 4:19 (ESV) came to my mind:

“And my God shall supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

I have come to realize that there were moments in my writing journey 2017 in which God supplied my needs as a poet, blogger, and follower of Christ. I highlight three moments from 2017 in the following sections.

First, I reflect on my opportunity to attend a Christian writers conference in February 2017. As I shared in my April 29 post, I suffered a severe cold that threatened to rob my participation in the conference. Through the power of prayer and my decision to persist, I received healing and restoration. Not only was I able to attend the workshops and networking opportunities but the conference inspired me to launch this blog. I testify that if you need healing, restoration, and inspiration as a writer, God will provide.

Second, I recall how June 2017 represented a turning point for me a poet. I discovered that God was developing a style of poetry in me that was new for me. I was becoming aware of how God orchestrates timing for the process of writing in my life. To this point, God had me revisit a piece I began writing in January 2017 called, Be opened! I realized I needed to be open to the process.  I testify that God supplied not only the inspiration I needed but also the perfect timing for me to share this piece.

Lastly, I recall how the world was struck by an onslaught of hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters in September 2017. As a follower of Christ, I believe that God stirs up a need for us to show compassion during times of tribulation. My September 13 post featured my poem, Nothing shall separate us from the love of GodI testify that God supplied me with a message of comfort and encouraged me to share it with the world.

In summary,  I acknowledge that God was with me for every step my writing journey in 2017. He richly supplied my mind, body, and spirit, and, in turn, I believe I grew as a poet, blogger, and Christian.  I expect with joy that I will continue to grow in these areas in 2018. Knowing that He supplies me, I can now envision a path of blessings and opportunities to become a widely published poet in 2018. More to come soon!

I encourage you to trust that God will supply all your needs as you write in 2018! Please share your vision for your writing life by following me on Twitter

  1. Oh I love that you came to visit Sunday Scripture Blessings link up and shared so I could come visit. How awesome a blessing with your Poetry writing. I’ve only flown on a plane once in my 70+ years, and in the end, I also had a cold. So glad you could continue on with the scholarship and enjoy the experience. I’ve always loved writing poetry..not that mine is Christian based, but just comes sometimes. Hope you will stop back and visit me again and share your experiences going forward in 2018 with your Poetry. Love the waterfall photo.
