Amidst the festive lights, parties, and endless caroling, for some, this Christmas season may a difficult time to celebrate.
I want to take a moment from the holiday busyness to dedicate this prayer to those who are experiencing grief and loss.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful.
I lift up to You those who are experiencing grief and loss this Christmas season. Help them to honor the best of their loved one by recalling a fond memory, a favorite song, a picture, or a special place. I pray that if they are bound by any fear, guilt, shame or anger about their loved one that you would release them in the name of Jesus. I pray that You release them from any regrets in Jesus’ name. I pray that they open their hearts to forgiveness and that You lose upon them a peace that surpasses their understanding. I pray that they are not so consumed by a spirit of grief that they lose their desire to live. I pray that You would fill their hearts, minds, and spirits with what is honorable, pure, and lovely. Let them know that if they need to cry that they may do so without shame or fear of weakness. For You say in your Word that You are the God of our comfort and that when we are weak from hardships and difficulties, you are strong. May You surround them with family and friends who can minister Your love and comfort in their time of need. In Jesus’ name I ask these things. Thank you and Amen.
Please re-tweet this prayer and help me spread the gift of love that was given to us by the birth of our Savior Jesus!
